Aerospace Museum of California
-
McClellan, CA
The Aerospace Museum of California is located on the former McClellan AFB which now operates as McClellan Buisness Park and McClellan Airport. McClellan Jet Services operates a full-service FBO and will provide transportation to the Museum on request. It is less than a 1 mile walk to the Museum. There are also overnight accomodations at the Lions Gate Hotel at the fully restored former McClellan Officers Club. The Museum boasts a collection of aircraft starting with a Curtiss-Wright B-14-B “Speedwing” bi-plane built in 1932. It is one-of-a-kind and has been beautifully restored. There are over 40 aircraft and a full collection of aircraft engines from the World War I Gnome Rotary to an Allison V3420 and the SR-71 J-58. Many aircraft are open, while others hang from the ceiling of the 30,000 SF pavilion. Aircraft include all “Century” series USAF aircraft, a MIG–17PF and MIG–21F, FB-11A and an F-14D, plus a Pitts S-1 acrobatic racer and an AQM – 187 drone. Norden Bomb Sight - On display is one of the original Norden bomb sights, which were used by American bombardiers for precision day bombing during World War II. These bomb sights were really small computers that were maintained and repaired in the shops at the Sacramento Air Depot later Sacramento Air Logistics Center at McClellan AFB. Come visit The Viper Zone, our flight simulation center and feel the rush behind the controls of two F-16 CPTs and Dreamflyer motion simulator, as well as the Morphis motion-ride simulator. The Museum is open Tuesday - Saturday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Sunday, 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM. There is a fully stocked Gift Shop. -

Auburn Airport-Wings Restaurant
-
Auburn, CA
Wings restaurant on the airfield is a great place to go for breakfast or lunch! Outside dinning on a covered patio is a perfect place to watch the planes come and go. The food is really good! Sometimes there is a wait, but you can have a coffee and read the paper at the picnic tables while you wait! Yummm! -

Aviation Museum of Santa Paula
-
Santa Paula, CA
Mission Statement: To educate the public of all ages in aviation and its history, both in general and as it relates to Santa Paula and to inspire, motivate and challenge the younger generation to carry on the dream of our aviation pioneers. The Museum consists of what we call the Chain of Hangars, each hangar exhibiting the owner's personal collections. Each one is unique! The private displays include antique, classic and experimental aircraft; automobiles including race cars; motorcycles; an enormous antique radio, juke box and phonograph collection; paintings and photographs; model aircraft and a variety of aviation artifacts. The Museum Chain of Hangars, our gift shop and display of aircraft are open for public viewing and the enjoyment on the First Sunday of each month (weather permitting) between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. The airport is active all day long (again, when conditions allow), so flying activities on the ground and overhead add to the day's fun for aviation enthusiasts. Special ground tours are available by appointment. -
