Florala Municipal Airport - Florala, AL

Florala is a great little stop for lunch. It is a favorite of many of the local flying groups and Navy helicopters. Excellent BBQ, soda, ice cream and all the peanuts you could eat for a small donation in a laid back atmosphere. Keep in mind 100LL is not available. - Submitted by Tristar

Lambert's Thrown Rolls Restaurant will come pick you up at the airport. Tacky Jack's and The Original Oyster House Restaurants are just over the bridge. Looking for something a little different, The Gulf Restaurant is located directly on the Gulf of Mexico where you can enjoy fresh foods directly on the beach overlooking the water and from time to time dolphins! You can contact either FBO for courtesy cars, shuttle, or rental cars to any of the local attractions/restaurants. Contacts: Ferguson Air Services FBO 251 948-5550 freq 122.775 or Gulf Air Center FBO 251 968-5100 freq 129.375 - Submitted by Michelle Przystas

Fly into this fun little place for a great beach and dinner or lunch on the island. When we were there June 2017 the owner at Islanders Restaurant came to greet us at the airport for a ride. Food was great! Runway is recently redone and was great. Watch out for crosswinds. - Submitted by Bob

Moontown Airport - Huntsville, AL

2185 X 160 grass strip with tower in place for great pancake breakfasts on the 3rd Saturday of every month- huge turnout of RV's, warbirds, Cubs and 152's, Bo's and kitbuilts- tripacers, and just about anything- saw a SeaB there last time. Nifty flight school, and 100LL on site at $3.40 last month. 9/27, right traffic 27. Pretty country, and nice people. Lots of EAA types. Interesting to stroll along the parked planes. - Submitted by Richard McGlaughlin

Scottsboro Unclaimed Baggage Store - Scottsboro, AL

Great little airport with friendly staff and a pool car to get you 2mi down the road to the Unclaimed Baggage Store. It's a nice big salvage store full of clothes, electronics, jewelry, on an on. - all the stuff comes from lost airline luggage! A trip that's sure to make your wife love aviation! Store hours: Monday - Friday 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. CT, Saturday 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. CT, Closed Sundays. - Submitted by Dave G.

Southern Museum of Flight - Birmingham, AL

From their website: The Southern Museum of flight presents civilian, military, and experimental aircraft and memorabilia from the earliest history of powered flight. The museum houses over 90 aircraft, as well as engines, models, artifacts, and paintings. In addition, the Southern Museum of Flight is home to the Alabama Aviation Hall of Fame with over 70 biographical plaques presenting Alabama aviation history through collective biography. Allow at least a couple of hours to tour the museum. Highlights for us included the Lake Murray B-25 exhibit including the preserved fuselage on display, an original Delta Air Lines Huff-Daland crop duster, and the Soviet Mi-24 Hind helicopter. Park at Atlantic East. The museum is less than 1 mile from the FBO but I probably would not walk it because of the neighborhood. Atlantic should be able to run you over to the museum, or call the museum ahead of time as they may be able to pick you up if they have someone available. Admission is 7 for adults, or 5 for AAA members. - Submitted by Vin Rampey
