Dyersburg Army Air Base-Veterans Museum - Halls, TN

The Veterans' Museum was founded on the site of The Dyersburg Army Air Base in 1997. The base had been a training facility during World War II for B-17 pilots. While the Museum honors our veterans from that era with displays, photographs, and history of the base, we are proud to honor all of our veterans with displays from conflict wars starting with WWI through present day. - Submitted by Paul Lamb

Historic Macon County - Lafayette, TN

Macon County Tennessee is one of the most beautiful places to fly that you will ever see. From gently rolling farmland, to quaint historic towns. Red Boiling Springs boasts historic hotels with natural spring water spa services. Check out the Armour Hotel, the Donoho Hotel, and The Thomas House. There are antique shops, covered bridges, and dinner theatres. In Lafayette, tourists can eat some of the finest food and enjoy great music at Gibson's Cafe. There is a winery, a dude ranch nearby, a golf course, and a drive in theater. Whatever you are looking to do, you can find it in lovely Macon County Tennessee! The airport in Lafayette has a top notch 5,200 foot runway, courtesy car for customers, great fuel prices, and hangar storage. Call us for more information and experience hometown hospitality like none other. - Submitted by Crystal Cherry

Lookout Mountain Incline Railway - Chattanooga, TN

The Lookout Mountain Incline Railway is an inclined plane railway located along the side of Lookout Mountain in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Passengers are transported from St. Elmo's Station at the base, to Point Park at the mountain summit, which overlooks the city and the Tennessee River. The railway is approximately one mile 1.6 km in length single track except for a short two-track stretch at the midway point, allowing operation of two cars at one time, and has a maximum grade of 72.7. It is billed as one of the world's steepest passenger railways. The inclined railway is just part of the area attractions. We got courtesy car and also visited Rock City. Rock City features a long, convoluted rock trail lined with gardens. These gardens contain hundreds of labeled local trees and plants. The trail also leads through a variety of bizarre rock formations, including the 1000-ton Balanced Rock and the Fat Man's Squeeze. Two other sections, the Fairyland Caverns and father Goose Village, are rock caves decorated with blacklight-responsive sculptures. This is a daddy daughter dream day. I plan on going back soon to see Ruby falls. Ruby Falls is a 145-foot high underground waterfall located within Lookout Mountain. - Submitted by Larry Carvagno

The memorial is adjacent to the Smyrna/Rutherford County Airport, Smyrna, TNKMQY. - Submitted by Paul Lamb

Mountain Goat Trail - Sewanee, TN

Great friendly airport with bicycles you can borrow. Two segments of the Mountain Goat Trail are complete. The first links Sewanee and Monteagle in Franklin County with a paved pathway stretching nearly five miles. The route parallels busy Highway 41, providing a safer alternative between the towns for pedestrians and bicyclists. It offers a nice mix of both quiet wooded areas and connections to businesses where travelers can grab a drink or a bite to eat. There is a little deli called Shenanigans that has outdoor tables about a half mile to the left where the trail crosses the road. - Submitted by Larry

Reelfoot Lake State Park - Tiptonville, TN

Reelfoot Lake State Park, located in the northwest corner of Tennessee, is one of the greatest hunting and fishing preserves in the nation. The lake encompasses 25,000 acres 15,000 of which are water and harbors almost every kind of shore and wading bird, as well as the golden and American bald eagles. Other animals are also diverse and abundant here. Its many species of flowering and non-flowering plants attract botany enthusiasts from all over the country. Cypress dominates the margins of the lake, but many other trees and shrubs are also present. Campgrounds, bathrooms, boardwalk, fishing piers and picnic areas are wheelchair accessible. - Submitted by Jim Rhodes
