Half Moon Bay Airport
Great location just west of San Francisco Bay, right on the coast. Delicious breakfast served at the diner on the field. Short walk to the marina and some really good restaurants or just take a walk on the beach. There was plenty of parking on the ramp, but the best part of Half Moon Bay aside from the totally epic flight along the coastline to get there, is the town itself. There's some great scenic hiking, shops and bomb food. Make sure you get flight following, especially if you're going to be flying north between the field and the Golden Gate Bridge as it gets fairly congested and no one wants to stray too far off the coastline. - Submitted by MFridell

1/27/2021 - As others have said, park at the south end, take your own lunch or grab something to go, and walk down to Mavericks Beachbut check conditions in advance! - Submitted by Louise
11/9/2020 - On airport cafe has closed. N\new owners have been renovating but no opening date is available. Park at the south end of airport and walk to harbor district, multiple restaurants are open for outdoor dinning, Harbor district requires face masks at all times. - Submitted by Glenn Reynolds
9/27/2019 - HAF is a fantastic airport, but the diner is no longer open. Park on the far south end by the thick trees to the east of the hangar and walk through the gate right into downtown Half Moon Bay. 1/16/2013 - The gorgeous town of Half Moon Bay is a mere 4 miles from the field, a short cab ride. Wonderful shops, restaurants and pubs and street life at the edge of the coast makes this town one of the more interesting seaside towns in CA. - Submitted by Adam Sparks

Great stop if transiting the coast. Onfield is the 3-0 Cafe parking adjacent to the restaurant, literally a 30 sec walk, which alone makes KHAF worth visiting note - closes by early afternoon, plan on no later than 2p; if you're into burgers, I personally recommend the B-17 Burger. Lots of visiting student traffic from KPAO and KSQL, especially southeast of the field, so keep your eye out. Straight-in's under VMC not encouraged due to noise abatement; plan for crossing overhead before dropping into the right downwind for Rwy 30 left for Rwy 12. - Uploaded by Alexis Esguerra
