Gate 12 Bar & Grille
A sister to J. Cody's Steaks and BBQ, Gate 12 is Relaxed Elegance in the old terminal building at Easterwood Airport. From the B-29 Prop hanging above the bar to the B-17 mural decorating the wall of The Hanger meeting room. Come have a fantastic lunch or dinner and watch the air traffic through the glass walls of the historic original FBO building. Astin Aviation will take great care of your plane while you dine and have you ready to fly home once you finish your meal. 9/22/2022 - A bit of an to the original post about Gate 12 Bar Grille. This restaurant is located directly off the tarmac at Easterwood Field KCLL, not 4 miles away from the airfield as the system shows. Easy taxi up to the gate, the tower will direct you there. A little interesting history about the propeller hanging above the bar. That propeller used to be in the Texas AM University wind tunnel facility which is located just across the street. The propeller was acquired from the military and is one of the original propellers from the Enola Gay, B-29 that ped the Little Boy atomic bomb on Hiroshima at the end of WWII. While in-use in the wind-tunnel facility, one of the models came loose and knicked the leading edges of the prop, which is why it was taken out of service and now hangs in the ceiling of the bar. The menu at the bar is one of the absolute best I have seen at any fly-in restaurant, complete with a full cocktail menu. The atmosphere beats all but the best airport restaurants in the country, with a real dining room feel, not that church social hall vibe you get at many of the small places. My son a PPL Aggie who is studying in-town takes his girlfriend to this location often to eat and have a few drinks and watch the activity on the ramp. - Submitted by Spencer Hamons
8/14/2021 - You can no longer park on ramp near restaurant, you now have to park 1/2 mile away and walk in/put through FBO. TSA shutdown the access gate to the ramp. This should be addressed with airport management and returned to service. - Submitted by C Baker
