The Best BBQ I've Ever Had!
The Giddings Airport is an absolute diamond in the rough. I landed there and will return there often. We then used the courtesy car to go into town for some BBQ that I read about on the internet. Seriously, the City Meat Market is the best BBQ I've ever eaten. http://www.citymeatmarket.biz Try a little of everything as this is one BBQ experience you shouldn't miss. The open pits and smoky interior is true Texas BBQ. I read that alot of musicians, actors, and big time celebrities frequent here. From Sandra Bullock to Willie Nelson they all wait in line for the best BBQ in Texas. It's a little known place but get there early as they will sell out every time! The FBO manager told me we might be a bit late by the time we landed to get some of the good BBQ so he called ahead for us and reserved us some of their finest BBQ. That was really nice. To wrap it up, this is one of the best places to fly for a wonderful day trip. We will be back! - Submitted by Parker

4/10/2010 - The airport folks are very friendly. They have a courtesy car for your use and low-priced gas. The restaurant in town, The Meat Market, is over-rated. The atmosphere is pretty cool - very old-timey barbecue place and looks like it's been there forever. They have ribs, sausage and brisket and will cut it until you say, Stop!. That's all good news. The sauce is ok but the brisket is really fat and the ribs just so-so. If you're flying there for the food, find another place. If you're flying there for the experience, it's ok. - Submitted by Jake
