Scheduling and Material Planning Manager - Culpeper, Virginia

The Manager of Scheduling and Material Planning is responsible for the daily activities of the Material Planning and Production Scheduling Organization at the Culpeper, VA Facility. They will also be the Site Representative for the Scheduling and Material Planning Organization.

Role will require this Manager to lead and develop Scheduling and Material Planning Team Members. In addition, will support and/or lead initiatives at the Site and Organizational level as appropriate and required.Material Planning Team is responsible for supply and demand analysis and applicable execution based on those results. Team also supports operational activities by ensuring all applicable materials and work orders are readily available per the production schedule.Production Scheduling Team is responsible for managing the production schedule both in the MRP system and at the operational level. Team is responsible for ensuring alignment between the MRP plan and the Operations build plan.

Both Teams are heavy users of the Oracle MRP system, requiring the Manager to have a strong conceptual understanding of MRP concepts and methodologies. In addition, strong understanding of basic scheduling methodologies are a must. Manager will ensure accurate and timely execution of the MRP and Production plan by their Teams.

Requires a Bachelor's degree, preferably in Business Management, Engineering, Computer Science, and/or Operations Management, at least nine (9) years of related leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, or an equivalent combination experience and education.

Strongly desired skills and experience:

  • Demonstrated leadership and team development
  • Master's degree or MBA
  • Strong understanding of MRP concepts and software
  • Strong project management skills
  • Basic understanding of standard scheduling activities and tools
  • APICS and Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification

May be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level.Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

The work environment may require a combination of indoor and outdoor activity (hot, cold, wet, humid conditions) with a varied amount of walking, standing, sitting, climbing (i.e. ladders, stair, scaffolding, ramps), balance (maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces), bending, reaching, handling/fingering (seizing, holding, grasping, turning picking, pinching), stooping, kneeling, crouching and ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, employees may work around variable noise levels. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. May also be required to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer. Ability to distinguish colors may also be necessary. Some employees may be required to drive between various locations within the Company facility or between locations. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
