Marshall University seeks a Director of its new School of Aviation that will contain a four-year Flight School and a two-year A P School. The Director will also serve as the Chief Instructor of the Flight School.
Upon appointment, the successful candidate will assist with the University's application to become a Provisional Pilot School under Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations (14 CFR) part 141. In addition, the Executive Director#8212;Chief Instructor will review the construction of teaching facilities at Yeager Airport (CRW), assist with the hiring of staff and faculty, implementation of the curriculum, and serve as the founding director the flight school which will accept its inaugural class in the fall term of 2021.
All applicants must meet the qualifications of Chief Instructor as specified in S141.35 of Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations (14 CFR) part 141 including at least one year of experience as a ground school instructor at a certified pilot school, and hold a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education. The selection committee will give preference to candidates with a graduate degree, longer teaching experience, and experience as a commercial pilot.
