Assistant Director, Patient Financial Services - NEW

POSITION OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Director of PFS, the Assistant Director, PFS, ensures operational excellence within The No Surprises Act (NSA) functional unit (NSAFS) of Patient Financial Services. This role is accountable for creating, auditing, and implementing account management steps and regulatory compliance within PHIs strict revenue cycle management and NSA guidelines. In coordination with the Director, the Assistant Director provides leadership and oversight to the NSA team by directing operational workflows, ensuring consistency through compliance monitoring, and the review and analysis of work product audits, metrics and timelines.

JOB SUMMARY

  • Oversight for all daily operations of a specialized revenue cycle team (40+/- employees) to ensure operational goals are met through achievement of established production and quality standards.
  • Ensure all claims are processed within the timely limits imposed by the Independent Dispute Resolution (IDR) as part of the No Surprises Act.
  • Identify Federal IDR Process issues and coordinate with appropriate parties such as IDR Entities or CMS for proper resolution.
  • Identify payer issues: Analyze trends and create and implement resolutions/action plans to correct.
  • Communicate with payers, IDR Entities, and/or CMS as necessary.
  • Develops workflow processes: To support and improve production.
  • Develop system reports: To monitor department productivity, account receivable trends, and payer issues.
  • Responsible for monitoring productivity and quality to ensure training standards are met and policies and procedures are followed.
  • Handle production, quality reviews, and risk mitigation; investigate areas experiencing errors/shortfalls and identify strategies for remediation.
  • Encourage, motivate, and develop staff to maximize their abilities.
  • Participate in creating staff training modules and delivery mechanisms.
  • Act as a resource for organizational team members.
  • Budgeting responsibilities within department.
  • Other projects and assignments as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's degree in business, healthcare administration, or related field.
  • 3 years of leadership experience in healthcare (or healthcare related) billing and collections or financial equivalent.
  • Prior NSA compliance experience a plus.
  • Advanced analytical and research skills.
  • Acumen to learn new software quickly with a focus on the utilization systems tools to analyze process flow and outcomes.
  • Experience with research, interpretation, and application of payer specific statutory compliance and billing policies, guidelines, as required to guide the expediting of insurance billing and collection follow-up.
  • Demonstrated above average expertise in software to include Microsoft Windows, Excel, and Word.
  • Financial experience or Financial Planning Analysis (FP A) experience a plus.
