What Will You Be Doing?

The Senior Manager, Commercial Analysis leads cross-functional initiatives to identify, quantify, prioritize, and capture revenue opportunities across commercial teams, including pricing revenue management, network planning scheduling, and marketing sales. The Senior Manager works collaboratively across commercial teams and with key internal stakeholders including Information Technology, Airport Customer Service, and Customer Care to strengthen revenue-generative policies procedures, and engages with all levels of the organization from the frontline to C-suite. The Senior Manager supports negotiation and collaboration with key business partners across the commercial umbrella to protect and enhance revenue generation.

Essential Functions

  • Identify, quantify, prioritize, and capture revenue opportunities across commercial teams, including pricing revenue management, network planning scheduling, and marketing sales.
  • Collaborate with diverse teams across the company and external vendors to strengthen revenue production.
  • Prioritize workstreams, balancing resources available and business needs; proactively communicate deliverable status and deadlines to team leadership and business stakeholders; consistently deliver timely, accurate analyses.
  • Investigate the root causes of revenue opportunities across policies, procedures, and technologies, and propose profit-maximizing resolutions.
  • Identify and size potential revenue opportunities across the organization.
  • Conduct ad-hoc projects, reports, and analyses as determined by senior management.

Other Functions

  • Set the standard for the broader team in thought processes and analytical outputs:
    • Achieve expert status in business and industry trends.
    • Distill a broad range of quantitative and qualitative inputs into meaningful, accurate financial models.
    • Clearly communicate the actionable business implications of complex quantitative analyses to senior management.
  • Assist in developing junior team members across commercial teams to deepen the teams collective skillset and improve overall performance.
  • Lead change across the organization by improving directly owned processes taking initiative to champion cross-functional opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree required; major(s) in Economics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Finance, Aviation Management or related analytical field strongly preferred; combination of education and relevant experience considered in lieu of degree requirement
  • Graduate Degree in one of above disciplines preferred
  • 7+ years of experience in pricing revenue management, revenue analysis, or operations research
  • Minimum 5 years of leadership experience
  • Experience with the theory and practice of revenue management strategy, particularly within the U.S. airline competitive landscape
  • 10+ years of experience in airline commercial function preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Advanced analytical and quantitative skills; demonstrated understanding of airline commercial metrics, economics, network design and revenue management principles
  • Exemplary written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to independently prioritize analyses for self and teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Ability to structure logical analytical approaches and to apply a range of quantitative techniques to solve business problems in an efficient, timely manner
  • Comfortable working self-sufficiently to creatively solve analytical challenges with limited data and imminent deadlines
  • Advanced understanding of Excel and SQL and their use in data analysis
  • Familiarity with Python, SAS, R or similar coding and statistical analysis languages preferred
  • Strong work ethic; delivers results in ambiguous, time-pressured situations
  • Sound judgment and ability to maintain composure under pressure
