Airfield Operation Shift Lead
PRIMARY FUNCTION
This position assists with the overall management of Airfield Management (AM) facilities and services to provide a safe, efficient, and effective airfield environment for aircraft operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Maintains situational awareness of airfield activities and overall responsibility for Airfield Management Operations section while on duty.
• Serves as the AFM’s representative during emergency response situations and during non-duty hours.
• Assesses airfield operations/situations, determines operational requirements and imposes airfield restrictions as needed (e.g., closing/suspending operations on aprons, taxiways and runways).
• Conducts and documents a shift change briefing prior to signing off-duty.
• Perform airfield checks that include driving the runway, taxiways, and ramps to check for and remove hazardous debris from all areas and note all non-operational lights, damaged, or broken markers.
• Provides flight following services and initiate appropriate actions when aircraft are overdue.
• Maintain and process NOTAMs.
• Maintain a record of daily events on AF Form 3616.
• Executes Operational Instructions and Quick Reaction Checklists necessary to perform AM duties and responds to situations requiring immediate action.
• Provide transient aircrew and aircraft support to include processing Prior Permission Required (PPR) requests and coordinating parking areas
• Provides briefings to base and transient aircrews on relevant airfield operations and restrictions.
• Maintains the flight planning room equipment, maps, displays and publications.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities. The position has the responsibility and authority to carry out assigned tasks.
