The International Flight Training School (IFTS) is a joint venture between CAE DS Europe and Leonardo aircraft with operation mainly located in Decimomannu, Sardinia, Italy. The main business of IFTS is an Italian company called Advanced Jet Training (AJT). As IFTS program leader, you will be accountable to manage the IFTS program for CAE which includes Business Development activities, operational oversight through the JV board of directors and Steering committee, and stakeholders management. You will be the primary interface to the Leonardo stakeholders and the CAE program team. The IFTS program has been operational now for the past 12 months, further focus is needed on efficient operation, bring new customer and ensure adherence to the business model.
IFTS Business LeaderEssential Duties- Directs all phases of the program from acquisition through sustained operation.
- Drives program execution to achieve key business and financial objectives for orders, revenue recognition, operating income, and free cash flow.
- Responsible for the cost, schedule and technical performance of the program. Participates in the negotiation of contract and contract changes.
- Coordinates the preparation of proposals, business plans, performance Statement of Work (SOW) and specifications, operating budgets, and financial terms/conditions of contract.
- Acts as primary customer contact for program activities, leading program review sessions with customer to discuss cost, schedule, and technical performance.
- Establishes milestones and monitors adherence to master plans and schedules, identifies program issues and defines solutions, such as allocating resources or changing contractual specifications.
- Directs the work of employees assigned to the program from technical, commercial, contractual, programs, and administrative areas.
- Manages experienced professionals or team(s) led by lower-level supervisors or managers.
Responsibilities- Responsible for creating workforce and staffing plans for team or department to ensure availability of human capital necessary to accomplish departmental business results.
- Communicates with parties within and outside of the organization, which includes larger customers or vendors.
- Requires ability to communicate and influence leadership regarding matters of substantial importance to the function or business area.
- Frequently conducts briefings to senior leaders.
- Recommend, develop, and implement program management tools, process ownership and analysis, risk management, controls, and performance metrics to monitor and report program performance to objectives (including budget, schedule, and other management requirements), and facilitate project coordination and decision-making.
- Responsible for improving upon existing or establishing new processes and systems using significant conceptualization, reasoning, and interpretation. Solutions are innovative and unique and draw upon best practices based on expertise.
- Develops or champions new concepts or technologies.
- Extensively analyzes problems to seek understanding of the root cause of the problem.
- Recommends operational plans and tactics that will directly impact the achievement of overall functional results.
- Directs the execution of tactics established by functional leadership. Establishes operational plans for job area with short- to mid-term impact on results.
- Work requires a high degree of responsibility for resources, and occasionally influences business decisions made by functional leadership.
- May recommend and implement new products, processes, policies, standards or operating plans in support of job function strategy.
- Profit Loss (PL) accountability for the program.
Background- Hold a bacheloru2019s degree in engineering, business or other related field
- Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in program management, business leadership or related function
- Excellent customer interface skills and negotiation experience
- Strong technical knowledge of aerospace operations, training and simulation, and maintenance organizations
- Understanding of controlled goods and ITAR, and Italian government defence programs
- Eligible to obtain NATO Secret and other Top Secret security clearance
- Based out of Cagliari or Rome, Italy with hybrid office/remote work
- Ability to travel 25-50 of the time in Canada, Italy, and Internationally
