Hourly Rate: $68.57BASIC FUNCTION SUMMARY

Performs aerial flight duties maintaining currency and proficiency in accordance with applicable Aircrew Flight Manuals (-1), technical publications, and applicable regulations.  Performs functional check flights for the purpose of determining the airworthiness of aircraft through inspection, flight-testing, and evaluations of flight performance, engine operation, systems operation, and flight characteristics.  Performs maintenance operational checks to assist maintenance personnel in troubleshooting and to ensure aircraft systems, associated equipment, and/or components are operating satisfactorily.  Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease cycle time and streamline work processes, and works cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.  Performs all tasks with minimum supervision. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintain currency and proficiency on tasks/maneuvers required by applicable Air Force instructions, the UH-1 Aircrew Flight Manual (-1), and other related publications. 

Maintain thorough knowledge of aircraft systems, emergency procedures, operating limitations and restrictions, regulations, publications and established procedures.

Perform thorough preflight planning which includes, but is not limited to, filing flight plans/logs, and computing and evaluating aircraft performance data, weather information, notices to airman (NOTAMS), fuel requirements, and weight and balance data. 

Review aircraft logbook and maintenance forms/records to determine the checks required for engine running ground checks, functional check flights (FCF), Operational Check Flights (OCF) or in-flight checks.  Ensures maintenance on the aircraft has been properly performed and documented.   

Briefs crew and passengers on specific mission, flight data, normal procedures, emergency procedures, and equipment requirements.

Perform preflight, in-flight, and post-flight procedures, operational checks, and maneuvers in accordance with operator’s and/or FCF checklist and other applicable publications. 

Perform maintenance ground and in-flight operational and functional checks to determine the airworthiness of aircraft through inspection, flight-testing, and evaluations of flight performance, engine operation, systems operation, and flight characteristics.

Briefs and demonstrates operational and emergency procedures to flight crews and non-crewmembers

Transports aircraft monitors, maintenance and quality personnel as necessary. 

Performs recovery operations on aircraft that have made a precautionary or forced landing.

Performs cross country aircraft ferrying operations.

Prepares, maintains, and completes forms, records, reports, and other related documents pertaining to aircraft maintenance in accordance with applicable technical publications and other directives as required.

Assist in the ground handling of aircraft, including towing and mooring.

Use, inspect, and maintain assigned personal protection equipment.

Maintain the cleanliness of the work area.

Develop, formulate and improve methods, processes, and/or procedures to increase efficiency and quality.

Participate in training to increase knowledge and job skills.

Use approved methods/procedures in the performance of assigned job.  Correct/report all observed unsafe practices/conditions.  Demonstrate job procedures and assists in the training of employees who are assigned to work in the classification. 

Comply with Foreign Object Damage (FOD), Hazardous Waste, and Tool Control Programs.

Comply with established general and industrial safety rules and regulations as applicable to the contract, facilities and job assignment.

Assist as directed to ensure safety, security, and preservation of Government/Company owned equipment and supplies.

Work and communicate with internal and external clients and customers to meet their needs in a polite, courteous, and cooperative manner.  Plays an active part in problem resolution and is committed to quality service.

Perform other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.  Must have completed formal training conducted under the auspices of an Armed Forces Pilot Training School and be a graduate of the USAF HH-60G qualification course.  Must have recorded a minimum of 1,000 flight hours as pilot in command, including a minimum of 300 hours as pilot in command in the HH-60G.  Must possess a thorough working knowledge of HH-60G systems, applicable maintenance/technical publications, and regulations.  Must be able to read and interpret technical data, drawings, maintenance instructions and other applicable data.  Must have knowledge and skill in the application of mathematics, adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing in all units of measure, using whole number, decimals, and fractions.  Must be familiar with flight line operations and safety requirements.  Must hold a valid and current FAA Class II Medical Certificate and FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate.  Must be able to work days, nights, and weekends as required. 

Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.  Must be able to follow written and oral instructions and have the ability to work with others to effect solutions to ordinary situations/problems.  Must be able to plan and prioritize work assignments with little or no supervision.  Must be willing and able to deal with the customer and company employees in a courteous and professional manner.  Must be able to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance. This position does not include an additional stipend for instructor pilot qualification.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

Physical Demands:

This classification activity is usually accomplished in a hangar/flightline environment and as such requires the scope of physical movements and postures normally associated with these activities.  Typical physical demands or activities include climbing, standing, bending, stooping, pushing, kneeling, reaching and walking.  May be required to lift objects whose weight normally will not exceed 50 pounds.  Special vision abilities required to perform this job are close vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust and focus.

Work Environment:

The diversity of work conditions may range from an environment where there is little or no physical discomfort, to an environment where inclement weather may subject individual to changes in temperature and weather.  May be required to work in areas where high noise hazards prevail.  May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles.  May be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals.  May be exposed to electrical shock hazards.  May work near moving mechanical parts.
