Chief Pilot - AS350/H125, R66, and R44 - Girdwood, Alaska

Description:

Alpine Air Alaska is a Part 135 aviation company that was established in 1992. We operate AS350, Robinson R66, and R44 statewide in a variety of work to include charter, utility, OAS and tourism. Our main base of operations is in Girdwood with two other bases in Anchorage and Valdez.

We are currently seeking a qualified and highly motivated Chief Pilot. The applicant must meet the requirements of FAR 119.71 to be considered for the Chief Pilot position. The ideal candidate will have PIC experience in all three airframes, Alaska experience, prior Part 133 Part135 management experience

  • Directs all training activities of flight crew members.
  • Prepares adequate and current flight kit for each aircraft.
  • Maintains current aircraft check list.
  • Maintains Electronic Flight Bag Program
  • Maintains pilot and aircraft records required by the company
  • Ensures all flight crews conform to standard procedures as outlined in applicable FAA regulations and company policies.
  • Ensure all pilots maintain current route qualifications and receive proficiency checks as required by FAA and the company.
  • Ensures compliance with the flight and duty limitations of FAR Part 135 and the GOM
  • Train pilots on OAS contract and coordinate with OAS inspectors for pilot qualifications
  • Train pilots how to fly external load and operate within Part 133 regulations
  • Execute Operational Control
  • Coordinate with Operational Control team to ensure proper scheduling of aircraft and pilots
  • Report to the Director of Operations
  • Support Director of Operations in pilot evaluations and hiring process
  • Support Director of Operations in delegated tasks
  • Work with Safety Manager to promote a culture of safety and compliance with Safety Management System(SMS)
  • Maintain constant communication with line pilots to ensure they are supported
  • Assists in promoting a healthy work environment that promotes employee engagement, safety, integrity, and excellent customer service.
  • Serve as Check airman on assigned aircraft
  • Serve as PIC for all types of operations to evaluate company policies and procedures, lead by example to subordinate pilots, and keep face to face relationship with management and customers to maintain Alpines known above and beyond customer service
  • Chief Pilot may delegate some duties, but retains overall responsibility

Requirements:

  • Commercial Helicopter Certificate
  • Helicopter Instrument Rating
  • 1st or 2nd Class Medical
  • Served as PIC at least 3-years as pilot in command of an aircraft operated under Part 135
  • Extensive knowledge of FARs and FSIMS 8900
  • Understanding of SOPs and industry best practices
  • External load experience
  • Extensive mountain flying experience (preferably in Alaska)
  • Flight experience in Robinson 44, Robinson 66, and AS350/H125 airframes
  • Current or Previously OAS Carded- Preferred

Skills and Competency:

  • Strong communication skills- written, oral and interpersonal
  • Proficient in computer skills to include Microsoft Office products and scheduling software
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Capable of managing logistical challenges
  • Excellent customer service

Additional Requirements:

  • Must possess a valid driverrsquo;s license and have acceptable driving record
  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen. Alpine Air Alaska is a Zero Tolerance Drug Free Employer, including pre-employment and random drug screening
  • Ability to travel for the position as needed
  • Must be able to commute to Girdwood, AK on a daily basis
