Northrop Grumman Defense Systems sector (NGDS) is seeking a Simulation Support Team (SST) Manager 1 to join our growing team of diverse professionals supporting the Army National Guard (ARNG) Mission Command Training Support Program (MCTSP) at Camp Atterbury near Edinburgh, Indiana.
This position is contingent upon contract award, budget, and customer approval.
Responsibilities:
Conducts overall management coordination for all training environment technical, networking, exercise design, and required operational support
Leads the technical team to:
install, operate, integrate, and troubleshoot communications, applications, and configurations
establish network addresses and connections
monitor and analyze system performance
recommend and perform application maintenance and upgrade applications as needed
conduct data backups and system recovery
install information assurance vulnerability alert (IAVA) patches, security updates, respond to critical vulnerabilities, and conduct remediation before, during, and after training exercises using the Joint Land Component Constructive Training Capability (JLCCTC) suite
Ensures each Mission Training Complex (MTC) can simultaneously conduct one large (multi-echelon) and one medium-scale (single-echelon) JLCCTC-supported exercise
Coordinates Simulation Support Team (SST) support at the MTC or the Training Unit Commander (TUC) point of need.
Specific duties include:
Leads the Technical Support Team to provide training units with the simulation environment and mission command stimulation that fulfils exercise planning documents provided by training units
Leverages complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in virtual systems
Works independently most of the time with general or no direction
Develops approaches to solutions and independently makes decisions that do not result in serious program delays or considerable expenditure of resources
Represents the organization at daily inter-organizational and outside customer contacts and provides solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects
Interprets exercise planning documents to best install and configure hardware, software, and networks on physical or virtual systems
Researches and uses best judgment to fill in needed information for system configuration and operation solutions
When system errors occur, evaluates error message(s), system/program logs, observed system operation deviations, etc. to evaluate the problem(s) and attempt corrective action(s)
Informs site manager of the issues requiring outside support
Authors problem ticket(s) with sufficient descriptive detail to allow help desk to understand issue(s) at hand
Follows all applicable Information Assurance (IA) protocols defined by the Department of Defense (DoD) and our customer
Maintains all applicable DoD security technical implementation guides (STIGs), operating system and application patches for all systems under his/her responsibility
Ensures that backups of critical data are done within the capabilities and specifications provided by the customer
Maintains user accounts on system(s) that the employee administrates under DoD and system-specific authority to operate documentation
Provides subject matter expertise in the areas of systems administration, military simulations, and stimulation of military tactical systems by simulation systems
Maintains proficiency with simulation software and hardware fielded to the Mission Training Complex

Basic Qualifications:
One of the following:
Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 8 years of experience with Military training and training support
Master’s degree with a minimum of 6 years of experience with Military training and training support
Experience in technical support and training requirements at Brigade or higher level
Must have an active U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance
Must have or be able to acquire Information Assurance Training (IAT) Level II Certification and meet all training required of DoD computing environments for all supported systems within 180 days of beginning work
Must be able to travel as needed (up to 25 of the time)
Must be able to work on-site at Camp Atterbury near Edinburgh, Indiana
Must be able to support shifts that occur outside standard working hours and work weeks that exceed 40 hours per week to support 24/7 operations during exercise events
Must be able to frequently move computer workstations and other equipment weighing up to 50 pounds around the worksite
Must be able to maneuver into areas of the facility above and below desks/tables to facilitate hookup of computer workstations and peripheral equipment
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Computer Science (CS), Information Technology (IT), Cybersecurity, Information Assurance (IA), or related discipline
Experience in planning architectures that employ distributed and stand-alone simulations to stimulate Army Command and Control (C2) Systems in Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVC) and integrated training environments
Experience as a Federation Manager of High-Level Architecture and Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS) training federations
Previous FA57 or CP36 training and experience
Certification in Linux OS such as CompTIA Linux+, Linux Foundation Certified System Administrator or Redhat Certified Systems Administrator
Active IAT II certification such as CompTIA Security+ CE
Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate certification in Windows 10 and/or Server 2012
Experience in the configuration and operation of RedHat Enterprise Linux (versions 6 above) workstation and server and Microsoft Windows (10 higher) workstation and server operating systems (2012 higher) in bare metal and virtualized configurations with an emphasis on Linux setup and operations
Experience with VMWare installation, configuration, and maintenance
Meet DoD 8570.01-M Baseline Computing Environment (CE) Certification Requirements at Information Assurance Training Level III (IAT III) or DoD Directive 8140 DoD Cyber Workforce Framework (DCWF) equivalent requirements (Advanced)
Operational support experience with JLCCTC in support of Corps and below level events
Have a working knowledge of the tools and techniques necessary to mass deploy over a network of 1 – 400+ Microsoft Windows and Linux systems on unformatted / un-configured hardware using government-provided tools
