Shangri-La Resort

In June 2023, flew up to Grand Lake Regional Airport 3O9 for a stay at the Shangri-La Resort. The resort will send over a Mercedes Van to pick you up within 5 minutes of calling them. They come right out to your plane to unload your bags, golf clubs, and everything else that you have and take you the 1.2 miles to the hotel. The rooms are pretty standard, but the hotel has a lot of amenities for everyone. Great pool kid friendly if that is your thing, five restaurants ranging from pool food to fine dining, 27 holes of golf plus an 18 hole par 3 course, arcade, tennis, pickleball, boat rentals, you name it. Great place to go if you want to feel like you are at a high-end resort, but you don't want to travel a long way to get there.

For pilots, as of June 2023, the airport itself has changed ownership and currently has no services available no fuel, no hangars, ALL data in the Chart Supplement is outdated. Bring your own tie-downs as there are great in-concrete tie-downs in the ramp, but the ropes provided are old and rotten. Pilot controlled lighting on the field does work. There are two fuel trucks on-the-field, but I would not trust them right now even if there was someone to drive it to you. If new owners take over, the fuel system will definitely require some inspection before I would trust it. However, there is fuel available nearby at Grove Regional GMJ for good prices and only 6nm miles away. - Submitted by Spencer Hamons
