Here's your excuse to fly one of the prettiest valleys in the North Cascades. Land at Darrington 1S2 beneath Whitehorse Mountain, tie down, and walk ten minutes into town to the Mansford Grange - a community grange chapter going strong since 1919 - where Caroline from Boots and Beats teaches a two-hour line dancing class built for absolute beginners. Everything is taught step by step. And honestly, if you can fly a traffic pattern, you can line dance: everybody follows the same steps in sequence and tries not to hit each other.
The smart move is to make it an overnight. Darrington's town code allows fly-in pilots to camp at the airport, the IGA grocery is a quarter mile away, and you'll launch Sunday morning in cool, smooth mountain air.
Field notes: paved 2,491' x 40' runway 10/28, CTAF 122.9, unattended, no fuel, no runway lights - daylight VFR only. Class ends at 8 PM and sunset is 8:42, so plan on staying. You'll want to anyway.
