Anita Municipal Airport Redwood Steak House - Anita, IA

Located in west central Iowa, Anita Municipal Airport is a great place to stop. Land on the beautiful grass runway right next to downtown. Park by the hangars and you are half a block from downtown Anita. Ankeny Regional Airport - Ankeny, IA

Located just a few miles north of Des Moines, IA, yet out of the Class C airspace, Ankeny is the general aviation hub for the greater Des Moines area. Located within a ten minute drive is the Prairie Meadows Reacetrack and Casino, Adventureland Amusement Park, in addition to several great restaurants, hotels, and shopping. Exec 1 Aviation is a full service FBO located on the field. Fort Dodge Flight Support - Regional Airport - Fort Dodge, IA

Fort Dodge is a growing city. The military constructed Fort Clark to provide protection for the settlers in 1850. The name was changed to Fort Dodge in 1951. The town of Fort Dodge was founded in 1869. Today a bronze plaque in downtown marks the site where the original fort stood. - Submitted by openairnet

Great Plains Wing of the CAF - Council Bluffs, IA

This is the home of the Great Plains Wing of the Commemorative Air Force, P51-D Mustang Gunfighter and a military museum. Also based in our hangar is an AT-6 Texan. Work days are every Saturday except holidays from about 0800 hours until early afternoon and Thursday evenings from about 1800 hours until 2100 hours. Gunfighter's annual usually begins in November and gets finished in late winter so if you have ever wanted to see the inside of a genuine Mustang, winter is a great time to do so! - Submitted by Jeff Hutcheson

Independence Municipal Airport - Independence, IA

Great Midwest town with a great downtown area for local shopping. Tour the Amish community only a few miles from the airport, lots of great foods, crafts and specialty items. Two crew cars available for day use, rental cars also available. Camping is allowed on the airport, and the FBO has 24/7 service with NO FEES! Knoxville Raceway - Knoxville, IA

The Knoxville Raceway is known as the Sprint Car Capital of the World. Wing sprint car races are offered every Saturday evening in the summer months. The Knoxville Municipal Airport is located just 2 miles south of the track. The FBO provides transportation to and from the track. Please try to support them with fuel purchases for offering this service. Several aircraft fly in for regular Saturday night events each week. Expect large numbers of fly in traffic during special World of Outlaw and Nationals events. Stop in and take our courtesy car to the historic Chicago Great Western Railroad Hub town of Oelwein. We have tasty diners that serve comfort food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Italian, Mexican, Chinese and other pizza and burger spots. Stop in on your way to Airventure at KOSH.
