FOD Prevention Associate Director - Pratt Whitney, East Hartford, CT

Summary:

The Foreign Object Damage Debris (FOD) prevention Associate Director will assume the ownership of FOD prevention across the enterprise and leads deployment of the FOD prevention program. This role is  responsible for developing and maintaining associated procedures and standard work, deployment of the FOD prevention program, developing and maintaining required training, driving strategies applicable to FOD prevention and utilizing CORE tools to track, monitor, and improve effectiveness of the program

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ownership of Foreign Object Damage Debris (FOD) prevention process, deployment of FOD prevention program, related training, and compliance management.
  • Administration of FOD prevention methodology throughout the entire IPD Value Stream.
  • Monitoring of FOD Prevention Program effectiveness utilizing robust data analysis and CORE, continuous improvement, implementation.
  • Supporting related investigations, RCCA facilitation and provision of Subject Matter Expertise.
  • Oversight on preventive and corrective action implementation and sustained effectiveness.
  • Interfacing with Audit teams and/or performing assessments and effectiveness checks as required based on performance, risk assessments, and implementation of preventive/corrective actions, as well as supporting external audits.
  • Leading/Chairing the PW FOD Council, and continually assessing effectiveness including, structure, membership, and participation.
  • Analysis of FOD Event data and communications to interested parties, stakeholders, and all levels of leadership.
  • Providing FOD Event metrics to associated dashboards, control towers, scorecards, etc.
  • Communication of FOD elimination/prevention opportunities, best practices, procedures, and standard work throughout the company, supply chain, and customers.
  • Benchmarking PW against best-in-class FOD prevention practices.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 12 or more years of experience in a quality, continuous improvement, engineering, manufacturing, program/project management or other closely related industrial environment or a Masters degree and 10 or more years of experience in a quality, continuous improvement, engineering, manufacturing, program/project management or other closely related industrial environment.
  • Working knowledge of FOD prevention, quality and continuous improvement principles (such as CORE, Six Sigma and lean manufacturing).
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Computer skills- Proficient in Word, Power Point, Excel, Access, Project.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access some information under some programs/contracts.

  • Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 in theory and practice.

  • Hybrid: Employees who are working in Hybrid roles will work regularly both onsite and offsite. This means that responsibilities of the job need to be performed onsite on a regular basis.

Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.

The salary range for this role is 143,000 USD - 287,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
