Fatigue Risk Management System Specialist (NJUS) - Columbus, Ohio

Purpose of Position
The FRMS Specialist assists the Safety Department in the execution of the comprehensive NetJets Safety Program with specific focus on the Fatigue Risk Management System.This includes reviewing, evaluating and processing fatigue related reports; analyzing data associated with flight activities and FRMS fatigue predictions; recommending adjustments to the bio-mathematical model used for fatigue prediction; categorizing fatigue events as organizational, individual or unpredictable; and assessing risks and making recommendations on how to minimize fatigue risk in NetJets flight and maintenance operations.

Tasks and Responsibilities
1) Evaluate, analyze and process fatigue reports submitted to the NJA Safety Department, including by not limited to:
(a)Comprehensive review and validation of Unscheduled Rest Periods (URP) occurrences
(b)Identification and categorization of organizational, personal and external influencers of URPs
(c)Maintaining metrics associated with fatigue risk and trends within the operation based on URP and alertness predictions generated by the FRMS software
2) Management of robust data set for FRMS model refinement, to include but not limited to:
(a)Nuances specific to fractional operations requiring model enhancement
(b)Seat and fleet biases to accommodate the workload differences between duty positions
3) Participate in, or conducting investigations into fatigue related events, including but not limited to the following:
(a)Employee interviews
(b)FRMS model recreation reflecting alertness levels using predicted and actual reported sleep periods.
4) Remaining informed of scientific and operational advances in fatigue risk management.
5) Represents the company on various government and industry committees as requested.

  • Must be able to work independently and use independent discretion and judgment
  • Familiarity with analysis, trending and safety risk assessment.
  • Ability to use sound judgment in analyzing reports, assessing risks and making recommendations
  • Must possess a demonstrated high degree of personal and professional integrity with the ability to maintain confidentiality.

  • Able to read and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures and governmental regulations with a working knowledge of applicable flight and duty regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with people at varying levels of authority.
