Line Pilot - Hamilton, Montana

Description:

All pilots are responsible for the safe, efficient and effective operation of a Choice Aviation aircraft. 

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Adhere to all applicable FARs and Forest Service regulations.
  • Assume Pilot in Command (PIC) duties and responsibilities any time they are on board the assigned aircraft, regardless of who is manipulating the controls.
  • Be available for call-up outside of normal duty hours, except mandated time off.
  • Carry an operating cell phone or paging device whereby the pilot can be summoned for dispatch during normal duty hours.

Flight Operations:

  • Crewmembers will be trained in both CJ3 and B100 aircraft.
  • Operations will primarily include charter with some limited air attack relief coverage during the fire season.
  • Training will take place in Hamilton, Montana and FlightSafety Wichita, KS.
  • All pilots will ensure that their assigned aircraft is in an airworthy state.
  • Pilots will be responsible for keeping their assigned aircraft clean.

Charter and Aerial firefighting pilots can expect to operate aircraft under some or all of the following adverse conditions:

  • To and from short-runway airports.
  • At high gross weights.
  • In high ambient temperatures.
  • In turbulent air.
  • At high-density altitudes.
  • In areas of reduced visibility.
  • In vertical, mountainous terrain.
  • Pilots will dress and act in a professional manner while on duty.
  • Pilots will voluntarily remove themselves from flight status when they do not feel fit to fly due to illness, fatigue, or any other reason that may affect flight safety.

Experience & Education

CERTIFICATES & Ratings: All pilots will meet the following criteria.

 Required

  • FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate or Airline Transport Pilot Certificate
  • FAA Airplane Multi-Engine-Land rating.
  • FAA Airplane Instrument rating.
  • Current FAA Class I Medical Certificate or the ability to acquire one before training.
  • Recent flight experience:
    • Meet FAR 61.56 and 61.57 for day, night, and instrument recency, regardless of whether passengers will be carried

Charter and Air Tactical Pilot - minimum experience: Flight Hours

  • Total Flight Time 1500
  • Airplane 1200
  • Cross-Country 500
  • Airplane-Multi-Engine 200
  • Night 100
  • Instrument (total) 75
  • Instrument (actual) 50

Preferred

  • Cessna 525 series experience or type rating
  • Beechcraft King Air B100 25
  • OAS Carded
  • Previous Air Tactical or Tanker Experience
