HALO Flight is actively seeking an experienced Director of Maintenance who is a “by example” leader, to lead HALO’s maintenance operations and program into the future.
Position Summary
The Director of Maintenance is a key leadership role at HALO, responsible for the oversight, coordination and management of all aircraft maintenance activities within HALO Flight’s operation. This position ensures strict compliance with FAA regulations, manufacturer guidance, HALO Flight’s General Operations Manual (GOM) and the organization’s Safety Management System (SMS).
The DOM works collaboratively with HALO’s leadership, Maintenance personnel, Chief Pilot and Director of Operations to ensure aircraft availability, support safe operations and uphold HALO Flight’s long-standing commitment to community service and safe operations.
Key Responsibilities
Regulatory Compliance & Technical Oversight
- Ensure all maintenance activities are performed in accordance with 14 CFR Parts 135, 43, 91, Airworthiness Directives (ADs), Service Bulletins (SBs), and manufacturer maintenance programs.
- Maintain and update HALO Flight’s GOM, MEL, NEF and ensure alignment with OpSpecs and regulations.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the FAA FSDO regarding maintenance and regulatory matters.
- Maintain accurate aircraft status reports, logbooks, maintenance records, and electronic tracking systems.
Maintenance Program Management
- Oversee and manage all scheduled and unscheduled aircraft maintenance to support HALO Flight’s 24/7 response capability.
- Develop maintenance schedules that reduce downtime while preserving compliance and safety.
- Coordinate major component changes, heavy maintenance events, and vendor support.
Leadership & Personnel Development
- Provide leadership and direction to mechanics, and support staff across all HALO bases.
- Ensure maintenance personnel training, qualifications, duty times, and professional development remain compliant and up-to-date.
- Promote a strong safety culture, emphasizing proactive hazard reporting, risk management, and SMS engagement.
Administrative & Strategic Responsibilities
- Manage maintenance budgets, expenditures, parts inventory and vendor contracts.
- Oversee procurement and ensure proper sourcing of parts, tools and consumables.
- Support operational decision-making regarding aircraft MEL deferrals, airworthiness concerns and maintenance risk assessments.
- Assist leadership during aircraft acquisitions, configuration changes and fleet modernization initiatives.
Base salary commensurate with experience and competitive with current industry rates.

Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications
- Meets Part 119 requirements to qualify as a DOM or if a first time DOM has the resume and experience to justify a deviation.
- FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certification required.
- Minimum 10 years of rotor-wing aircraft maintenance experience.
- Minimum 3 years of maintenance management or supervisory experience.
- Thorough understanding of Part 135 operations, rotorcraft systems, and HAA mission requirements.
- Strong working knowledge of SMS, quality assurance, reliability programs, and maintenance recordkeeping.
- Ability to plan, prioritize and execute in a dynamic ever-changing environment.
- Possesses exceptional attention to detail.
- Has excellent communication skills with the ability to read, write and comprehend complex technical and regulatory documentation.
- Team player that works well with others, possesses the technical expertise and experience to mentor mechanics and is capable of working alongside the team when needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Bell 407GXi IFR STC helicopters.
- FAA Inspection Authorization (IA).
- Prior experience as a DOM, Chief Inspector, or Maintenance Manager in a Part 135 environment.
- Familiarity with Gulf Coast operating conditions, corrosion mitigation programs, and coastal maintenance considerations.
- Proven leader who comes highly recommended.
