Description:

Mercy Flights is seeking an experienced Helicopter Pilot in Command responsible for the safe conduct of all flight operations, including pre-flight planning, in-flight decision-making, and post-flight activities. The pilot ensures regulatory compliance, practices Crew Resource Management (CRM) and Air Medical Resource Management (AMRM), and represents Mercy Flights with the highest standards of professionalism and safety.

Schedule & Travel

  • Full-time, part-time, or casual; 12-hour shifts (7 shifts / 2 weeks).
  • Initial training Mon–Fri (9 am–5 pm).
  • May require extended or off-schedule hours within FAA limits.
  • Local and occasional overnight travel for training.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate company helicopters under 14 CFR 135.
  • Perform pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight checks and weight/balance calculations.
  • Read and interpret authorized weather data; ensure current navigational charts.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of aircraft systems, limitations, and emergency procedures.
  • Conduct pre- and post-flight briefings for crew and passengers.
  • Ensure aircraft airworthiness, proper fueling, oxygen servicing, and safe ground handling.
  • Report discrepancies per MEL and company policy.

Requirements:

  • Commercial Pilot Certificate – Rotorcraft Helicopter with Instrument rating.
  • 1,500 hrs total time (min.), including:
    • 1,000 PIC (Helicopter)
    • 500 Turbine
    • 100 Night (aided/unaided)
  • Meets/exceeds 14 CFR 135.243 PIC qualifications.
  • Valid FAA 1st or 2nd Class Medical.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license; age 21+ with acceptable driving record.
  • Accident/incident-free last 5 years (preferred).
