Instructor/Check Pilot - EMB-120 - San Marcos, Texas

Purpose:

Serves as a ground, flight simulator, and aircraft Instructor Pilot/Check Pilot (IP/CP) to accomplish required training and testing in accordance with 14 CFR Part 135, Operations Specifications, and company training program requirements. The EMB-120 IP/CP conducts required training and testing for pilot, instructor, and check pilot candidates and coordinates with the Chief Pilot and Director of Training on matters relating to EMB-120 operating procedures, training, and testing.

The EMB-120 IP/PC will maintain Pilot In Command (PIC), IP, and CP qualification in the EMB-120 and any special mission capabilities associated with EMB-120 flight operations. The incumbent will be available to function as PIC, as needed, in both revenue and non-revenue flight operations, domestically and internationally.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides ground and flight training and ongoing mentoring as assigned for IP/CP candidates initial qualification, recurrency and requalification curriculums and modules in accordance with the company Pilot Training Program for the EMB-120.
  • Provides classroom instruction, flight instruction, and pilot testing in special capabilities (e.g., ETOPS, Over-Water, International Operations, etc.).
  • Provides classroom instruction in both aircraft and non-aircraft-specific subjects including non-aircraft-specific subjects delivered for pilots not assigned to the incumbents base aircraft type(s).
  • Provides pilot flight instruction in flight training devices, simulators, and aircraft as assigned.
  • Administers oral, written, and practical testing of pilots in accordance with applicable CFRs, OpSpecs, the company training program, and appropriate testing standards.
  • Completes, with timeliness and accuracy, all required documentation following training and testing activities.
  • Assists the Director of Training (DOT) in researching, evaluating, and implementing new or revised training systems, policies, procedures, and techniques.
  • Codifies standardization areas and topics as liaison between Chief Pilot and DOT.
  • Provides subject matter expertise and liaison between line-of-business and field units and the DOT for validation and verification of training programs and protocols.
  • Assist in screening of pilot candidates for line-of-business employment.
  • Augment revenue flight crews periodically.
  • Ability to travel up to 30 for training execution.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Training.

Requirements:

Qualifications:

Required Experience:

  • Prior flight instructor in multi-engine land airplane and instruments as CFII/MEI, FAA Certificated Air Carrier IP/CP, or equivalent military experience.
  • Possess Airline Transport Certificate; Airplane Multi-engine Land (ATP-AMEL)
  • Possess or be able to hold a Class I Medical Certificate
  • Possess a thorough knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs)
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, interpersonal skills and professional demeanor.
  • Must possess valid Passport.

Preferred Experience:

  • Hold EMB-120 type rating.
  • Possess a good working knowledge and experience with MS Office or Office 365 computer programs and/or database programs.
  • Prior experience as IP/CP particularly in FAR 135 or 121 air carriers, including simulator instruction.

Physical/Environmental Requirements:

  • Be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs., perform assigned pilot duties involving confined sitting for up to 10 flight hours per day and be exposed to a wide variety of environmental and weather conditions while working outside including, but not limited to, extreme heat, cold, and adverse weather conditions.
  • Must reside or be willing to relocate to CONUS; preferably the Austin-San Antonio or Atlanta area.
  • Be able to travel to accomplish training and job duties up to 50% of the time.
  • Be able to work in a variety of environments including indoor, outdoor, and austere operating environments within hostile areas of operation that may include threats from enemy combatants both in the air and on the ground.
