Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Manager Project Management 3 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Autonomous Systems Program Office, supporting the Triton Sustainment organization. This leadership role will be based in our Rancho Bernardo, CA office.

The position will have deputy project manager responsibilities for the international Australia sustainment team on the Triton program.  This leadership role will have the responsibility of managing the cost, schedule, and performance of a segment of overall portfolio efforts. This position may also be responsible for proposal, baselining, development, and sustainment efforts to support program needs. 

Oversees and manages the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as liaison between project management and planning, project team, and line management. Reviews status of projects and budgets; manages schedules and prepares status reports. Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives. Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, and clients.

In this role, the selected candidate will be expected to:

  • Remote management of program cost, schedule, performance, quality, and suppliers – including directly managing FSR technicians and mechanics on-site in Australia
  • Ensuring all contractual technical requirements are met
  • Coordinates the preparation of proposals, business plans, proposal work statements and specifications, operating budgets, and financial terms/conditions of contract
  • Responsible for ensuring program and procedural requirements are met in a timely and profitable manner, and within client satisfaction goals and objectives
  • Builds a collective understanding of program risks, issues, and opportunities and shapes collaborative solutions to maximize the performance of the organization
  • Provides leadership, management, guidance, and oversight for matrixed personnel
  • Participates in the negotiating contracts and contract changes
  • Prepares and delivers presentations at program reviews with both internal and external customers
  • Maintain excellent communication skills while flowing information both up and out to leadership and down and into the program
  • Develops metrics for monitoring the health of project progress and for intervention and problem solving with Senior IPT Leadership, Sub IPT Leads and Functional Homerooms
  • Leads teams in execution of the program by providing clear assignments and direction, maintaining close communication, and getting the team the support needed to succeed
  • Resolves issues in accordance with business objectives, strategies, legal requirements, regulations, contract terms, and company policies
  • Provide strategic vision for future program direction and growth

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 9 years of related experience as defined below: OR a Master’s degree and 7 years of related experience as defined below; OR an Associate’s degree and 11 years of related experience as defined below; OR a High School Diploma and 13 years of related experience as defined below
  • Related experience includes professional and/or military experience to include a background in project management, program management, engineering, capture efforts, business management related functions and/or on-aircraft/production experience
  • Must have On-Aircraft experience with maintenance activities, and knowledge of technician and mechanics scope of work in the field
  • Must have at least 2 years of experience leading the performance of tasks on schedule and at or under cost
  • Must have an active DoD Secret or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled in continuous evaluation)
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance level
  • Must be willing and able to travel internationally up to 25

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Medium - large contract and program management experience ($20M/year or more)
  • Customer experience with US Navy and/or Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF)
  • Prior experience supporting sustainment efforts aligned with program management
  • Active DoD Top Secret Clearance
  • Ability to obtain and maintain special program access
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing environments, while maintaining consistently high customer relations, service, and engagement
  • Strong written, verbal and presentation skills with proven ability to develop and maintain strong internal/external customer relationships
  • The ability to apply knowledge, insights and understanding of business and financial concepts, tools, and processes to the benefit of program decisions, actions, and performance
  • The ability to identify and address program impacts through a systematic, proactive, approach to issue and problem resolution that identifies, communicates, monitors, and promptly resolves conflicts
  • The ability to address program uncertainty through an organized and analytical forward-looking approach that identifies risks and opportunities, determines appropriate handling plans, and manages, controls, and communicates risks and opportunities
  • Valid Passport

Salary Range: $149,400 - $224,000
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
