Title: CVG Manager - Major Repairs and Recovery

Location: Erlanger, KY

The Business Operations Manager of Major Repair Aircraft Recovery has the overall responsibility managing operations within the department and coordinating travel, logistics, and pre-planning efforts for the MRR team, globally and onsite in CVG. This role will report directly to the Director of Operations Major Repairs and Recovery in conjunction with the VP, Major Repair and Recovery.

Job Duties:

  • Assign and direct work performed by personnel under their supervision. Participates in the performance of work as required.
  • Assure that MRR personnel under their supervision follow the company’s prescribed safety practices in the performance of their duties.
  • Determines that all work performed under their supervision is accomplished, recorded, and charged in accordance with Company policy, publications, or other appropriate authority.
  • Certifies the airworthiness of work accomplished by personnel under their direction as authorized by the Director of Quality Training or their designee.
  • Ensures that personnel under their direction are qualified to perform their assigned duties.
  • Ensures that all personnel assigned to them follow Company policy, regulations, and established safety rules and practices.
  • Ensures that production quality and quantity of personnel assigned to MRR meets prescribed standards.
  • Other duties as assigned by the VP of Major Repairs Recovery.
  • Maintain the Structures Shop in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Ensure that the personnel under his / her management are properly qualified, trained, sufficient in number, and authorized to perform their duties.
  • Responsible for enforcement of company policy and if necessary, initiates disciplinary action against the personnel under their supervision as required.
  • Work directly for the VP of Heavy MRR in scheduling teams to locations needed for the nature of the division.
  • Plan lodging, vehicles, and make points of contact with local vendors to rent/buy special equipment needed for specific repair needs.
  • Locate vendors per business unit needs and initiate addition to the AVL.
  • Maintain the structures department for CVG to include machinery, replenishment of consumables, and stock or repair materials.
  • Interview/hire qualified team members as business unit requirements change for team size and capabilities grow.
  • Ensure the crew maintains current qualifications, and schedule training for team members as required for operational requirements.
  • Maintain current passport and be ready to travel with short notice to any MRR project as required and ensure the same for entire MRR team.
  • Responsible for promoting MRR capabilities both internally (with hangar and line) and externally (all potential customers at CVG) to help increase MRR project potential.
  • Develop customer relationships at CVG to a level of excellence to ensure strategic customer aims and objectives.
  • Assist VP of MRR and Director of Ops MRR to develop and report on KPI’s for Sr. Leadership

Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Ensure Major Repair/AOG mechanics are mentored or coached to ensure they deliver for the business and are successfully positioned for growth.
  • Performance manage all Major Repairs/AOG mechanics while promoting a “One Team” environment.
  • Manage accountability within the team.
  • Manage DOT and AOC as required for the team.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement initiatives that eliminate waste, increase efficiency and performance.
  • Assist VP and Director of Ops in development of KPI’s and reporting metrics.
  • Identify opportunities and promote Major Repairs capabilities to ensure FEAM captures maximum MRR market share.
  • Maintain focus on manpower trends and growth needs and work with business partners to ensure training capacity matches business demands.
  • Collaborate with EU peers on programs and projects when opportunities are presented.

Qualifications:

  • Must be willing to travel as needed.
  • Must hold an BS in Aviation degree.
  • Good organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • 10+ years of experience in a fast paced, demanding operational environment.
  • 5-10 years of hangar management experience.
  • Understands Part121 and Part145 operations.
  • Understands FAA and EASA regulations.
  • Must be an effective communicator, and comfortable with management of personnel including building pipeline, cultivating a positive work environment and disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Must be proficient with My Boeing Fleet and Airbus world for access for repairs.
  • Must be proficient with MS Office products (including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Education and Experience:
  • Must have relevant operational experience in an airline or MRO network environment.
  • Must be proficient and experienced in aircraft line and light check maintenance.
  • Must have experience in scheduling, team management, and maintenance tracking.
  • Must have a valid A P and IA License.
