Mears Field Airport

Great airport to camp at. Just pull onto the south side grass near the tree line, setup camp and enjoy! The pilot's lounge has water, showers, a kitchen fully stocked with pots/pans/plates, stove, microwave and refrigerator. Computer for checking the weather and WIFI. 1 mile walk to town. 1/2 mile to a gas station/store and burger place on HWY 20. Fuel prices are a little steep, but maybe throw in a few gallons to help support keeping cool airports like this alive.

I have no idea why more people don't camp here! It's super quiet, nice locals and you could even sleep on one of the several hide-a-bed sofas in the pilots lounge if you want. There is a donation box right outside the lounge, so leave some cash for a cheap camping experience. WPA passport stamp is in the pilot's lounge building. - Submitted by Russell Longdon
