Wheeler Downtown Kansas City
KMKC seems to be a bit overlooked when flight planning. The airport is very close to all kinds of shopping and dining. Uber or Lyft will be your friend getting from the West side of the airport where the self serve 100LL pumps are to great restaurants and shopping only minutes away. If you'd prefer full service albeit more expensive, choose the Signature FBO on the East side.

Arriving or departing at sunset gives a spectacular view of the city. The airport is very easy to get in and out of and the runways and taxiways are in excellent condition. Fuel is reasonable and there is plenty to do and see within moments of the airport. I'd suggest the Nelson Atkins Museum, or if you're there early on a weekend, the River Market is always a nice way to start your day. 12/8/2020 - This is a fantastic airport in a fantastic location. I flew in on a clear Friday evening in Dec. City pumps have cheap fuel and getting an UBER was easy with fast pickup, for a quick turnaround. Next time I will be staying longer, in the heart of the city, everything is nearby. - Submitted by Michael Topel
