Ponderosa Lodge and Golf
The Ponderosa Lodge and Golf has a private airstrip that is available to the public by reservation. Land on a newly resurfaced asphalt runway that is 2,200 feet long. Park your plane on the grass at the end of the runway and a golf cart will be waiting for you there to get you around. Activities include a 9 hole executive golf course, fishing, hiking, kayaking, a pavilion and cabins for rent. It is located on 235 acres on the top of a mountain in central PA. 1/2/2020 - Nice place to just get away for a little while very little cell service which I think was a plus. My wife Brenda and I stayed there last year in the rustic cabin and had a great time. I have also landed there with our Autogyro Cavalon and the runway is in great condition. The owners are friendly and it's just a short drive to several restaurants. - Submitted by Ronald Andress
12/10/2018 - My wife Brenda and I stayed at the Doll House. Beautiful little cabin and a great way to get away for the weekend,,,,,we actually saw our first snow of the season on the way to the cabin. Nice people, reasonable price and great location. I have also flown our Autogyro Cavalon gyrocopter into their airport and the runway is in good condition. Call ahead and they will come out to meet you with a golf cart. - Submitted by Ronald Andress
10/23/2018 - Late October, we ped in to 4PA5 with my instructor who was of friend of the owner. Unannounced, we buzzed the narrow strip and landed on 33 which is uphill. The runway is narrow and modest but JUST resurfaced and looked beautiful. Before the engine was off, Ken was out to greet us in his 4-wheeler. You couldn't find a more congenial host! We never did get to tour the expansive property, but there is golf, and that area is just full of hunting fishing opportunities. We were on a schedule and had to leave but I'd love to see more and Ken would love to show it! The strip is uphill 33, downhill 15 be wary of winds on top of the ridge. The runway, and much more, has been cut out of the woods and it looks like they could double the length of the runway if traffic warranted. Drop in and see this place, but call first! I think Ken will be exceptionally accommodating! - Submitted by Dave
