We have a National Register Main Street with upscale shops and restaurants downtown, plus the 1885 Opera House has plays periodically. Come 2nd Sat. in November for Syrup Festival! Fly-In from 9 to 4 and we'll take you downtown and get you back, plus you can have pancakes with us! See www.depotmuseum.com/syrup for more info. We have the 1855 Howard-Dickinson House and Monte Verdi Plantation for touring. Contact the Chamber at 903-657-5528. First weekend in December is Home for the Holidays with special activities/home tours. Oil Museum in nearby Kilgore, New London Museum, don't miss our Depot Museum with a restored cotton gin, etc. Natural beauty with lush trees, colorful fall, spring flower trails, lakes. 7/4/2014 - This is an East Texas gem!!! I called ahead to see if courtesy car was available. It was July 4th. Even though it was a holiday, Ron, the FBO manager answered the phone. Gave me the code to the lockbox for the car. Drove a short distance into town. Ate at a great Mexican restaurant...Sombreros in Henderson. Owned by 2 brothers, Jerry and Sergio. Wait staff was very attentive. Try their fajitas or fish, or guisado. This FBO IS HANDS DOWN THE MOST EXCELLENTLY APPOINTED FBO short of Millionaire. Executive vibe but very personable service.
