Dare County Regional Airport

Great Airport. Beach, picinic shelter and aquarium. Lost Colonly Play nearby. Downtown is a great place to walk beside the water and eat. At the south end of the island is where the fishing boats come in. Fisherman's Wharf is a really great seafood restaurant. Real fresh fish. Seafood shop below restaurant will pack your fish for trip home. Said they would leave a bushel of oysters at the airport if you call ahead. - Submitted by Gil

12/12/2009 - Dropped into MQI in mid-December. MQI is a quaint airport w/ a nice lobby. Lots of model airplanes hanging from the ceiling. John behind the desk suggested eating at Stripers on the waterfront gave us the keys to an old but free minivan. Stripers had good food a great view of the bay and was only a 5 min drive from the airport. Dropped by the aquarium on the way back. The aquarium was small but a nice stop and it kept the kids busy. The aquarium is just a short walk par 4 to the flight line. Overall good experience, I will be back during the tourist season.
