The Empire State Aerosciences Museum will hold its monthly Fly-In Breakfast on Saturday, July 20, 2024 from 8:30 am - 10:30 am at 250 Rudy Chase Drive, Glenville, NY 12302 off Route 50. Enjoy an assortment of pancakes, french toast, eggs, sausage, potatoes, juice, coffee, tea, fruit and more. The breakfast is open to the public. At 10 am, Joseph Zarzynski, Maritime Archeologist from Wilton, NY will present a talk on Rod Serling: WWII Paratrooper, Hollywood Writer and College Professor. Rod Serling was one of Hollywood-s greatest writers. Besides The Twilight Zone, he also authored screenplays such as: Requiem for a Heavyweight, Seven Days in May and Planet of the Apes. He also narrated The Undersea World of Jacques Cousteau. After High School, Serling became an army Paratrooper in the Pacific Theater during WWII. While wounded in action, Serling used his personal experiences to craft hundreds of fictional stories. After the War, when he was a college student, he made extra money testing parachutes and a jet ejection seat. Zarzynski, was an undergraduate student at Ithaca College when Serling was a professor there in the late 1960s and early 1970s. He frequently heard Serling present talks at television and radio classes. He is on the Board of The French Indian War Society at Lake George and on the Register of Professional Archaeologists and a fellow, Royal Geographic Society. Zarzynski is the author or co-author of 8 books including his latest Fort William Henry's Moments in Time which he will have for sale and to sign. |
